Please Support MCTV’s Community Organization of the Month

MCTV is pleased to recognize ArtsinStark as our Community Organization of the Month. Please join us in thanking them for their efforts to improve the quality of life in Stark County. You can support them financially at our office or online at www.artsinstark.com

ArtsinStark is a 43-year-old non-profit organization that uses the arts to create smarter kids, new jobs, and healthier communities.  Although considered the county arts council, with an annual budget of $3 million, the organization receives no government support, but raises funds through the Annual Arts Campaign each spring.

Monies are used to supercharge learning in schools through our SmArts Program which integrates arts and academics. In the last six years ArtsinStark has invested $250,000 in 50 county schools and 15,000 kids.  SmArts “Mini-grants” are offered to any school and SmArts “Partnership” grants to schools ready to develop long term plans.

ArtsinStark Grants Program awards $1.3 million in grants annually.  The first $1.1 million goes to 7 largest arts groups: Canton Ballet, Canton Museum of Art, Canton Palace Theatre, Canton Symphony, Massillon Museum, Players Guild Theater and Voices of Canton.  The next $150,000 goes out in 100 smaller grants.  (Over the last 7 years we’ve given $950,000 to 250 county non-profits, artists, and schools never funded before.)

ArtsinStark is also in the business of revitalizing downtowns through the arts.  As an active member of the quARTer project in Massillon, ArtsinStark started its success in Downtown Canon, where they partnered with Chamber on the Canton Arts District.  What started with one art gallery has grown to 26 art galleries and studios --- and monthly First Friday celebrations, 43 new pieces of public art.  More than 100,000 square feet of vacant space has been transformed to new uses.

In 2012, ArtsinStark unveiled 20/20 Vision --- a 10-year plan for arts and economic development for Stark County created by more than 140 people.  And this year, those plans are being put into action – in your community – through tourism, education, innovation and arts initiatives.

We are in the midst of an “arts explosion” in Stark County.  Be part of the future.  PARTICIPATE today with your donation to the 2014 Annual Arts Campaign.  Stop in to MCTV during the month of April, our donation box is right in the lobby.  You can also make donations at www.artsinstark.com
